The Adaptable Mind

 Creativity, empathy, multi-disciplinary thinking, curiosity, and initiative are in no doubt very valuable traits to develop as being human.  To face challenges in life and to live with others in the world we share, these traits may be essential, although being human cannot be summarized by developing merely five characteristics.  The experience of living as a human is different for all, as there are numerous traits to be developed that lie outside of these five.  Although, empathy does stand out to me.  I believe through my personal life experiences, I have developed a genuine sense of empathy towards each individual I share the world with.  Empathy is a trait that can lead to a sense of kindness, and along with kindness comes peace.  Having an emotional understanding of one's personal emotions or experiences is a trait I value in others, as it allows me to believe I am not alone in any battle.  I plan to further develop this trait as a human and many more, as I plan to help people lead beautiful and fulfilling lives as a career.  I plan to be empathetic just as I would like people to show to me.  Growing each trait is important to me.

 

Education is the key?

I enjoyed this spoken word poem, and thought Darryll's perspective about education was insightful and interesting.  There are many educated people in the world who are ignorant when discussing topics such as racism.  I thoroughly enjoyed the line in the poem about educated and knowledgeable people not having common sense.  For instance, at school many students may refer each other as 'stupid' for not doing well on math or science tests, although there are significant multiple intelligence such as a creative musical intelligence.  I think education is important because knowledge is power and power can change the world.

My Intentions For This Course

My intentions for this course are to improve my communicating and writing skills, by learning new techniques.

This course may help me in the future because it may help me be successful in university or in future careers that require writing skills.
